A little extra black tape hides the wires inside the car. The car itself is quite heavy and so it runs much slower than before. This however is an advantage. The cars go so fast the image you get from a camera mounted on one seems sped up and out of scale. To get realistic looking images you either need a huge track or to run the cars more slowly. The view is exactly like those you get from a real race car with a camera mounted low on the nose.

The final part of the project was to provide a way of recharging the car. I took the standard base the car comes on and modified it. (PICTURE D) I added a plug that fits though the base which the car sits onto. This plug is connected to a small regulator circuit to provide a charging current for the battery. A small switch connects and disconnects the car from the circuit and the plug and socket themselves disconnect the camera and audio transmitter from the battery in the car when it is plugged onto the base. (PICTURE E) This acts as an on/off switch for the camera. When the car is on the base it is off. Pull it off the base and it automatically switches on. I use the Scalextric track power supply to power the charger. You plug it into the base and switch on. A green LED on the base glows when the car is charging.
